About Yein

Healing Hearts, Inspiring Hope

Do you find yourself being much harder on yourself than you would ever be with someone else?

Perhaps you rarely feel that what you do is quite good enough. You might overthink mistakes, compare yourself with others, put pressure on yourself to get things right, or constantly feel that you should somehow be doing better.

Sometimes these patterns can look like perfectionism, anxiety or low self-esteem. At other times, they show up as shame, people-pleasing, difficulty resting, or an inner critic that never seems to switch off.

Often, there is more going on beneath these struggles than may first appear.

I have a particular interest in working with people who struggle with self-criticism, perfectionism, shame and low self-worth. Rather than simply trying to silence the critical voice, I believe it can be helpful to become curious about it: where it came from, what it is trying to protect us from, and what more vulnerable feelings or needs might lie beneath it.

Counselling can offer a space to understand these parts of ourselves with greater compassion rather than judgement.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches according to your needs and what you bring. This might involve exploring past experiences, noticing patterns in your relationships, understanding how thoughts and emotions interact, or learning to respond differently to parts of yourself you have found difficult to accept.

At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together. I aim to offer a space where you can be honest about what is really going on for you, without feeling that you need to perform, get counselling “right”, or become a better version of yourself in order to be accepted.

My hope is not simply to help you cope better, but to help you understand yourself more deeply, befriend difficult emotions, and develop a kinder and more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Faith and Counselling

As a Christian counsellor, I can integrate faith into our work if that is meaningful to you.

For some people, their relationship with God, experiences of church, questions about faith, or the way their beliefs interact with their emotional life are an important part of what they want to explore in counselling.

I believe this should always be led by you. I will not impose my beliefs or assume that faith needs to be part of our work simply because I am a Christian counsellor. I also warmly welcome clients of all faiths or none.

Alongside my counselling training, I hold a BA (Hons) in Theology and have undertaken further training in integrating Christian faith with counselling and psychotherapy. This enables me to engage thoughtfully with questions of faith where that would be helpful to you.

Whether you are facing something difficult in the present, trying to understand patterns that have followed you for many years, or simply sensing that something within you needs attention, you do not need to arrive with everything neatly worked out.

There is space here for you to come just as you are — and space to grow.
